Need a place to study or have a meeting? We have a variety of spaces for rent to meet your needs. All rooms include WiFi access, power outlets, tables and chairs. Rooms are available at the Loussac, Chugiak-Eagle River, and Mountain View, libraries using our online reservation system. Our reservation system works best when viewed from a desktop or in desktop view from a tablet or mobile device.

Our current Meeting Room Rates
All activities held in APL meeting rooms must comply with the Anchorage Public Library Facility Use Policy, Anchorage Public Library Code of Conduct, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Room requirement needs of Municipal Offices and the Anchorage Public Library take precedence over outside user groups.
How do I reserve a room?
Non-profit, for profit, community organizations and individuals may reserve rooms up to one full year for the next calendar year when booked after October 1. Check availability and reserve a room.
Reservation requests are made through the Library's website a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the event. Room use will be confirmed based on availability by the Facility Use Coordinator within 24-hours or the next business day of receipt of the customer's official request.
How do I reserve the Girdwood Community Room?
Can I reserve a room for a study group?
Yes. All meeting rooms are fee-based except for Chugiak-Eagle River Library which has 3 free study rooms, which can be reserved in advance at the library or by phone 907-343-1530. Rooms may be reserved no more than sixty (60) days in advance. Reservations are forfeited if the group is more than 10 minutes late without prior notification. Walk‐in usage is allowed if the rooms are not already reserved. Please review the APL Group Study Room Policy.
Do I have to pay to reserve a meeting room?
Yes. Our Meeting Room rental rates depend on the Non-Profit or For Profit status of the group, the size of the space, and the amount of time you intend to use the space. Please look at our Current Room Rates and if you have questions, contact the Facility Use Coordinator at 907-343-2906.
Each room has an hourly rate with a two-hour minimum required. Package rates apply for rentals of 4 hours (or 6 hours for events in the Atrium). Additional hours (over the package rate) will be billed at the original hourly rate.
I want to make a reservation online, but the system won't let me. What is wrong?
- Make sure you are using the most recent version of Internet Explorer or Chrome.
- Double check that the room you are requesting is not already reserved for that date and time.
- Online reservations will only validate reservations requested a minimum of 72-hours prior to the event. If your event booking is within 72 hours, call 907-343-2906 to speak with the scheduling coordinator.
- The system also will not allow you to reserve a room beyond the current calendar year until October 1.
Can I sell products or charge people to come to an event held at the library?
Renters of APL meeting spaces may charge for event attendees and sell goods and services within the meeting space.
Can I bring food to my meeting?
Yes, food is allowed in most library meeting rooms (no food is allowed in the Wilda Marston Theatre, Assembly Chambers or Raven Meeting Room). It is the responsibility of the renter to leave the room as clean as they found it. Users who neglect to clean up after use may be charged a cleaning fee and may lose renting privileges. Can I have a wedding or baby shower in the library?
Yes. Celebratory events are allowed in library meeting rooms. Food is not allowed in the Marston Theatre, Assembly Chambers, or Raven Meeting Room.
May I hang things on meeting room walls?
Only painters tape and sticky back 3M flip chart sheets are allowed to be attached to the walls. Directional signage for your meeting may only be placed in designated holders outside of the meeting room.
Can I have my event when the library is closed?
Yes. In most cases this type of request will require hiring security staff. This additional security request is contractual between you (the renter) and the Municipal contracted security company (Guardian Security 646-8460). Reservations requiring additional security will be approved once security has been scheduled by the renter. Requests must be made at least 30 days in advance of the event.
What if I have to cancel my confirmed reservation?
For a full refund, written or email cancellation is required and must be received no later than 30 calendar days prior to the scheduled event.
