Eligibility and Requirements

You can vote in Alaska if:

  • You are a United States citizen
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have been a resident of the state and of the district where you are going to vote for at least 30 days before an election
  • Have registered to vote by the registration deadline and are not registered to vote anywhere else

You are not required to vote in person on election day. You can:

  • Vote in person before election day at an early voting site
  • Have a personal representative pick up a ballot if you are unable to vote in person due to age, serious illness or disability
  • Request a mail-in ballot
  • Request an electronic ballot (this ballot must be faxed or mailed back)

Can I vote at the library?

APL locations occasionally serve as polling places or dropbox locations for State and Municipal elections. Please refer to the appropriate administrative office for the most current election information.

April 6 Municipal Election

The April 6 Municipal election will include elections for mayor and 4 school board seats and 11 propositions.

  • March 7, 2021 - Last day to register to vote
  • March 15, 2021 - Ballots begin to be mailed out
  • Approx. March 16, 2021 - Secure drop boxes open for ballot return
  • April 6, 2021 - All ballot envelopes must be postmarked on or before April 6, or returned to a secure drop box or accessible vote center by 8:00 p.m.
