Artificial intelligence is no longer science fiction—it’s in our phones, our shopping carts, and our classrooms. In this talk, Dr. Tonia Dousay, Dean of the UAA School of Education, unpacks what AI really is (and isn’t), explores how teachers and students are already utilizing it, and tackles significant questions about ethics, bias, and the future of learning. With stories that range from Neal Stephenson’s The Diamond Age to real examples from Alaska classrooms, she invites us to imagine how AI can support—not replace—the human side of education.
