In February 2025, Anchorage Public Library welcomed Marjorie Harrison as Library Director appointed by Mayor Suzanne LaFrance. She was confirmed by the Anchorage Assembly on March 4, 2025. My love of life-long learning, a passion for serving and helping others, and commitment to continuous improvement and growth, is what drew me to librarianship and eventually to library leadership.
My leadership style is servant leader and the community is always in my heart and at the core of everything we do. I believe libraries are the ultimate community connector linking people to possibilities, resources, information, and services.
My overall vision and values as a library leader are; strategy, being open to opportunity, encouraging collaboration, and recognizing the unique needs of each community our libraries serve.
I’m proud to have been selected to serve as Anchorage Public Library’s director and lead our smart, dedicated and resourceful staff in our mission to connect people to information, education, and community.
