APL Celebrates National Library Week

Anchorage Public Library will be celebrating National Library Week (April 8-14, 2018) by highlighting the variety of resources and experiences available at the library. From education to job resources to lifelong learning, we provide access to programs and services that transform lives every day.

Events during the week include:

  • A Seed Exchange happening all month at the Gerrish (Girdwood) branch
  • Job Lab, which provides resources, tools, and one on one assistance to job seekers Tuesday, 4/10 at Mountain View from 2-5pm, Wednesday, 4/11 at Loussac from 2-5pm, and Thursday, 4/12 at Muldoon from 4-6pm.
  • The return of T-Rex Storytime Thursday, 4/12 at Loussac from 10:30am-11:30pm
  • A Social ServiceĀ Fair Saturday, 4/13 at Mountain View from 11:00am-3:00pm

National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. The theme for 2018 National Library Week is "Libraries Lead," and American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer Misty Copeland will serve as 2018 National Library Week Honorary Chair.

National Library Week 2018 will mark the 60th anniversary of the first event, sponsored in 1958. This national celebration is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and observed in libraries across the country each April.
