Chugiak-Eagle River Branch is Closed

What You Need to Know

Effective Friday, May 10 the Chugiak-Eagle River library is closed indefinitely due to damage caused by the November 30 earthquake, which was found during a recent inspection. Work on the building will begin tomorrow, May 11. Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.


  • If you were notified that a hold was available for pickup on May 10th or earlier, your hold will be routed to Loussac Library.
  • If no you would like to move your hold from Loussac to pick up at another location, email or call (907) 343-2975.
  • If you are waiting for a hold that has already been placed but hasn't become available yet, you can tell us where you would like to pick it up by going to "My Account" and "Edit Pickup Location" to choose another library.


Best option: Visit one of the other 4 APL locations in Mountain View, Muldoon, Loussac (mid-town) or Girdwood to return your items.

Next best: Visit another public library including Big Lake, Wasilla, Palmer, Talkeetna, or Willow.

If you must: Hang on to your item until we have an Eagle River option available.

Fees: Overdue fees for items due 5/11/19 and later will be waived once an item has been returned. Patrons must request fee removal at that time.
