Anchorage Public Library kicks off the Summer Discovery Program with the 18th Annual Reading Rendezvous on Saturday, May 19 from 12-4 pm on the Loussac Lawn. This popular family event brings together community partners for fun-filled activities, food, live performances, and of course, sign ups for the Summer Discovery Program. This year the program will run from May 19-July 31 with a theme of “Libraries Rock.” People of all ages can sign up at any of APL’s 5 locations to read, learn, discover, and share over the course of the summer. Admission to the event is free. Food is available for purchase.

This year there’s even more to celebrate. May 19 is also the 10th anniversary of the Scott & Wesley Gerrish Library and Community Room in Girdwood. The Gerrish Library Boosters and Turnagain Arm Lions Club will host a free BBQ and community activities from 12-2 pm at the Gerrish Library.
